F5 Mandolins
Clark F5 mandolins are built based on Loar period Gibson F5 mandolins but also reflect my own opinions and style regarding the design.
I am, however, committed to using methods and materials proven over time to be both the best for sound quality and repairability. This includes using hot hide glue for most parts, compound tapered dovetail neck joints, and two-way truss rods for adjustability.
I am a believer in varnish finishes. I currently use an oil varnish, as I feel it is superior in sound quality and durability over varied environments. All of my F5 models are built with Adirondack Red Spruce tops and either Red Maple or Sugar Maple backs and sides.
All F5 models come standard with a pickguard.
