Octave Mandolins
I build three styles of Octaves, all of them archtop guitar bodied with a 20.25" scale length. A full body model, a florentine cutaway and a sharp cutaway.
I feel that the guitar body and scale length contribute to a wide dynamic range for the instrument, facilitating all kinds of music and styles of playing. Additionally, the relatively short scale length makes the transition from a standard mandolin to the octave somewhat easier than from some longer scale octaves.
The octaves all come with a pickguard, radiused fingerboard, and an Ebony tailpiece. All are built with the same care and consideration as all of my instruments.
